Just a few words on the process: after deciding on the colors and placing the order, we printed the image full size on paper. The glass and gold tesserae are glued with a water soluble paste to the paper. In this process we work in reverse, that is, the side that shows now is the side that will be embedded in the cement at installation while the side glued to the paper will be the side visible in the finished mosaic.
In the picture bellow, the thin line that forms the rhombus in the rose background in actually 24k gold. What you see is the bottle green backside of the tessera.
